HSE

Stephenson Academy offers expertise and skills in safety engineering, occupational health, risk analysis, process safety and loss prevention, asset protection and HSE management services, provided in consulting engineering and related field works in a variety of onshore and offshore Oil & Gas (upstream and downstream), chemical and petrochemical, energy production and transmission, industrial development projects and facilities worldwide.
Stephenson Academy’s Client-oriented Health & Safety services help in achieving optimal performance, minimizing risks and maintaining a safe workplace.
We have developed an extensive experience in the application of hazard identification techniques in both offshore and onshore industries, continuous and batch processes, large-scale projects or small package units, following international standards as well as project-specific or client specific adaptations of the state-of-the-art structured techniques.
Stephenson Academy’s experts can assist you by leading team identification exercises, coordinating dedicate identification groups, providing specific training on the methodologies applications or conducting individual technical hazard identification studies.
The main benefits for our Clients are:
- Maximise operability and enhance process design safety
- Optimise project characteristics and identify at early stage potential project pitfalls
- Prioritize interventions and monitor and register project progresses
Our Health & Safety studies will contribute to reduce the possibility of accidents and near misses, maximise plant uptime, reduce insurance costs, improve company reputation and minimize liabilities.
Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis
Stephenson Academy provides experienced chairmen for different HSE studies:
- HAZOP - a systematic screening of P&IDs to identify potential hazards and operability issues in processes
- HAZID and ENVID - Identification of safety or environmental hazards using tailored check-lists, applicable to operations, tasks, processes, procedures
- SIMOPS - Identification of hazards due to proximity or other interaction factors in activities carried out concurrently
- FMEA and FMECA – identification of the effect on production of equipment failures
- Other techniques (e.g. What-if analysis; SAFOP, PHA, etc), as required by specific project requirements
Stephenson Academy can carry out a full quantitative or qualitative risk assessment, depending on Client needs.
Our experience includes QRA developed for onshore and offshore installations, onshore pipelines, submarine pipelines and subsea installations, floating facilities (FPSO, FSRU), as well as developing of safety reports and safety cases following the EU "Seveso" Directive for major hazard facilities and industrial accidents.
Specific studies provided include:
- QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment)
- Safety reports ("Seveso" Directive)
- Safety case
- FERA (Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment)
- Risk assessment for specific scenarios (i.e. Dropped objects, ship impact)
Health and Safety Management
Stephenson Academy provides HSE management services by seconding its specialists at Client premises or as standalone activities, as required by the specific needs.
Our HSE management services include:
- Safety and reliability criteria identification
- HSE project requirements assessment
- HSE review of project design documentation during engineering and construction phases
- Verification of design compliance with norms, codes and standards
- Development of specialized studies (HAZOP, frequency and consequences assessment, domino effects analysis, etc.)
- Development of Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM study)
- Peer reviews
